Dynatrac
hubs are a world apart. Many people who appear to be using their trucks under normal conditions --
stock tires and light-duty use -- have experienced failures within the first
50,000 miles of ownership. Officially, Ford says the unit bearings are a "normal
wear" item, and therefore not covered by warranty at any mileage level.
Furthermore, some dealers are approving the work under warranty on a case-by
case basis. One-time repairs at a dealership can easily exceed $1,500.
Fortunately, there is now a fix. Dynatrac Products has designed a fixed
spindle that is
superior to the OEM live spindle.
This design is similar to the
hub/bearing assemblies we have known for decades.
The new spindle is Forged from chromoly steel, and a cast modular wheel hub replaces the OEM unit. The kit uses
locking hubs to engage and disengage the front drive. All Dynatrac components
are made in the United States to exacting standards.

Installation Instructions for Dynatrac Kits
Dynatrac engineers also upgraded the OEM 30-spline outer stub axle to a
stronger 35-spline unit. The conversion uses all factory stock components --
rotor, caliper, and brake pads -- and is fully compatible with the stock ABS
sensor. The bearings and seals are the same as those used on 1986-1997 F-350 4WD
trucks, and are also common to many Dodge and GM 4WD trucks. They can be
purchased at any parts house for about $65, and they can be inspected, repacked
and adjusted as part of normal service.
Jim McGean, owner of Dynatrac, explained that the OEM sealed unit bearing had
several problems. First, the two bearings are stacked right together, which
decreases their mechanical ability to absorb the leverage exerted by the wheel.
This is compounded by the large wheel spacer/adapter installed on the front
axle, further increasing the leveraged force on the bearings.
Dynatrac Ford Super Duty Combo Kit - Dynatrac
Dynatrac’s
Ford Super Duty Combo Kit addresses two major problems
with 1999-2004 Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks. The Combo
Kit replaces the OEM live spindle/hub assembly with a
Dynatrac Free-Spin Heavy-Duty Hub Conversion Kit with a
Dana 70 fixed-spindle designed for the loads and
stresses of large tires and heavy trucks. Also included
in the kit is a complete Crossover Steering Kit that
markedly improves the responsiveness and precision of
the truck's steering.

Often, Super Duty owners with lifted
trucks and bigger tires suffer from rapid
front wheel
bearing failure. The OEM, non-serviceable “live” spindle
(a.k.a. unit bearing) is extremely expensive to replace,
and will not stand up to big tires. The Dynatrac Combo
kit includes Dynatrac’s Pro 60 knuckles and hubs in a
fixed spindle design, which is specially set up for the
loads created by big tires. Each wheel also receives a
35-spline outer axle shaft instead of the stock,
30-spline shaft and a Premium Warn manual locking hub to
replace the factory units.
Customers
will benefit from improved handling and increased ground
clearance with a unique Crossover Steering Package that
locates the steering linkage up and away from rocks and
ground obstacles while improving linkage geometry. Dynatrac’s Crossover steering also minimizes bump steer,
common in lifted suspensions. The package even includes
an impressive, fabricated, dual-opposed steering
stabilizer that is located above the beefy 1.5” diameter
tie-rod assembly.
Each Dynatrac Combo Kit also includes
a much longer, fully adjustable, and massive track bar
compared to the tiny stock track bar. The reduced
operating angles of the Dynatrac track bar eliminate
binding in the leaf spring bushings and free up
suspension movement that gives double the wheel travel
of lifted suspensions without the Dynatrac kit.
Dynatrac Super Duty Combo Kits are
immediately available and are compatible with all Ford
Super Duty 4x4 trucks and Excursions fitted with popular
suspension kits ranging between 6-12” of lift. The
Dynatrac Super Duty Combo kit will also work on 99 to
‘04 Ford vehicles equipped with either the Dana 50 or
Dana 60 front axle. This is a 100% bolt-on kit with no
