We have some very exciting new about the
warranty accompanying the FASS Product line. The FASS
warranty is now the same for Bio-Diesel/ WASTE VEGETABLE
OIL fuels as it is for diesel fuel.
General Info About FASS Fuel Pumps and Accessories
The FASS Fuel Air Separation System
provides the most effective technology designed
specifically for diesel engines to remove water,
particulates, vapor and entrained air from diesel fuel.
The FASS Pump System replaces the Cummins factory lift
pump and filters system, and enhances the fuel delivery
to the Powerstroke and Duramax with a commercial duty
system designed to last between 13,000 to 15,000 hours
of continuous use. FASS Systems are covered by a
lifetime warranty on select models.
Your High Performance diesel engine
demands higher fuel flows. Yet, higher fuel flows
increase the vacuum at the fuel pump and agitation in
the fuel tank. These factors generate additional
air/vapor in the fuel system preventing your engine from
producing maximum power and efficiency. Incorporating
the FASS System into your diesel engines fuel delivery
system will remove the entrained air/vapor which has
been proven to cause galling and pitting of the injector
barrel and plunger assemblies. The FASS System is the
best possible insurance for helping to prevent injector
tip erosion.
Most vehicles fuel tanks are mounted
at least two feet below and ten feet away from the fuel
pump. This configuration creates multiple problems
associated with the fuel delivery to the engine. First, the injection pump has to draw
the fuel from the tank by creating a vacuum which
produces fuel vapor. Second, while the vehicle is in
motion the movement of the fuel inside the tank causes
air to become entrained within the fuel.
By
having entrained air and air vapor in the fuel, the
engine does not perform at the manufacturer's
specification, and the fuel injectors and fuel injection
pump are not properly lubricated. Air and fuel vapor
occupy the space that should have pure fuel, thus
delaying the injection of fuel (retarded timing) into
the combustion chamber. The air/vapor present in fuel is
very inconsistent, making it virtually impossible to
adapt the varying degrees of changes in injection
timing.
The answer to this problem is the FASS
Fuel Pumps.

Recognizing the conditions
of the test cell vs. real world application
introduces a whole set of variables
affecting the fuel supply/delivery to the
engine. In a manufacturers test
cell, if you ever have the chance to go on a
tour, you will recognize optimal engine
conditions. Optimal engine conditions equal
optimal engine performance. Optimal engine
performance consists of optimal fuel supply.
Manufactures' tests vary slightly from one
manufacture to the other but are configured
with these basics:
- Fuel tank is usually
at least 10 feet above the engine
- Fuel tank is
stationary
- Return fuel is
returned to a separate tank
With the optimal fuel
supply achieved, the fuel injection system
can perform the job for which it was
designed, keywords, optimal performance.
That is to deliver virtually pure fuel to
the injectors at the proper pressure; the
injectors can then deliver the proper amount
of fuel at the proper time into the cylinder
for a more complete combustion. Understand
fuel injection systems were designed to
inject a predetermined amount of fuel at a
predetermined time.
Give thought to the real
world applications. As you might have
noticed, we are unable to raise our fuel
tanks higher than they are.
- Fuel tanks are
usually below the engine and separated
from the engine by 5 15 feet
- Vehicles are in
motion
- Hot return fuel is
routed into the fuel supply tank
HOW FASS FUEL PUMPS WORK

Huge corporations and schools from
around the world recognize that entrained air/vapor in
fuel as a problem. We've listed only some of the
symptoms air/vapor has on engines to help you better
understand how serious the affects can be. You will be
able to see these topics discussed throughout our
documentation. Other factors can create these same
symptoms however; we do know that air/vapor will cause
these symptoms:
- Inconsistent
Flow Of Fuel
- Low Horsepower
- Loss of Power
- Sluggish Feel
- Low Fuel
Mileage/Poor Fuel Mileage
- Entrained Air
Wastes Fuel using more fuel to achieve the same
results
- Excessive Smoke
- Injector
Failure
- Harm to the
Injection System Components
- Hard Start or
Will Not Start
- Engine Surges
at Low Idle
- Warm Engine
Runs Rough or Misfires in Operating Range
- Rough Idle
- Engine Will Not
Reach Rated Speed When Loaded
About the Company Behind FASS Fuel
Pumps
The FASS product line is
protected by 2 patents, 7,025,048 and 6,892,710. The
company became incorporated in April of 2003 and started
in a garage selling 30-40 units per month. The company
now has grown to about 1,300 units per month and prides
itself on the excellence of the product as well as the
reputation of the company. The FASS products were
invented by Brad Ekstam, president of Diesel Performance
Products, Inc. Brad knew there was a problem with a
diesel engines performance. Through many tests and
discoveries the FASS product line was born.
As the product grew in
demand, there were more opportunities to discover the
full potential of our product. Through countless hours
of research and development, the company has improved
its products to be the best of their kind in a growing
industry. The Fuel Air Separation System, known as the
FASS, and the High Performance Fuel Pumps, known as the
HPFP, have had the privilege to be part of some of
Americas favorite racing, pulling and off-road teams!
The company manufactures and assembles the products
entirely in the United States. The company is members of
the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and
attends the shows regularly.
In the company's own
words:
"We, at Diesel
Performance Products, have over 15 years experience in
building the highest quality Fuel Air Separation Systems
and electric diesel fuel pumps available. It is this
experience that has lead us to use a gerotor specific
fuel pump. Our success in the class 8 truck market has
been above the rest. Our pumps typically last around
500,000 + miles! Since 1994 weve made many improvements
to increase life expectancy and dependability. Our
confidence is evident in our warranty. We started off
with a 1 year warranty and we now offer up to a
conditional 6 year warranty!!
In 2003 we not only
set the standard for diesel fuel pumps in the pickup
truck market, we KEEP raising the bar. With over 90%
of our machining, and all of our assembly and testing
performed under one roof, we maintain the highest
quality standards throughout the industry. The FASS
Systems undergo 25 vigorous tests before being shipped.
Both designs are subjected to numerous tests for your
quality assurance and to maintain the highest standards.
Our R & D department
is continually improving the FASS product line. We
realize the design of the FASS product line exceeds
performance and quality expectations. To create this
standard, we use one of the highest grades of aluminum,
T6061, as a major component. As you may already know, we
also use motor specific brushes in our electric motors
to maintain the same high quality standard and increase
the overall life of our units. Due to the brute size of
our motor armatures we are able to achieve superior
levels of stall torque. The increased amount of stall
torque insures extreme cold weather starts by flowing
gelling fuel."
FASS Fuel Pumps
Note: It is recommended that you do
not run a FASS pump with a higher gallon per hour rating
than your engines present Horsepower output. There is a
great potential to decrease the life expectancy of the
FASS fuel pump. The higher the GPH rating on the FASS
pump the greater the noise output will be.
