How do you change this filter?
How to change the FLEETGUARD 6.7L Cummins Crankcase Vent Filter CV52001 1. Pop the hood and remove the four cap screws holding the front dress cover in place. Then, remove the oil dipstick. Be careful not to brush it against anything, and remove the front cover. Replace the dipstick. 2. Now remove the eight 8MM cap screws holding the FLEETGUARD CV52001 6.7L Cummins Crankcase Vent Filter cover in place. (Remember that the back one on the left has a cable attached. Just pull up on the tie to get that out of your way. 3. Once the eight cap screws are removed, clean around the oil filler cap, remove it, lift the cover-up, and move it to the left. Reinstall the filler cap. 4.) Now lift the CCV Filter and remove it. 5. Installation of the Fleetguard CV52001 6.7L Cummins Crankcase Vent Filter is just a reverse of the process. Remember to tighten the cap screws in a star pattern like you do a wheel and not too tight. Do not over-tighten these screws, as there is no torque spec, but when you remove them, you'll notice that they aren't very tight.
- What can happen to my 6.7L ISB Cummins engine if I use a low-priced alternate filter from the web?
If you purchase a CCV filter that is offered at a highly discounted price, it may contain polypropylene media. This filtration media can melt under
high temperatures. This inferior media eliminates the ability to capture crankcase gasses. Reduced efficiency means the melted low-cost filtration material may clog the drain line or block other ports in the engine. This could lead to catastrophic damage to your engine. Plus, inferior CV products may violate emissions standards and lead to leaks and oil drips.
Only the OEM Fleetguard crankcase ventilation media is made of a durable polymer blend, which delivers outstanding efficiency while enduring higher temperatures. Don’t take chances with cheap CV filters.
Nothing guards like Fleetguard.
