Genuine Cummins Tappets
These replacement tappets are available for the 12 Valve and 24 Valve Cummins 5.9L and Cummins 6.7L diesel engines. When installing a new camshaft on the Cummins 5.9L and 6.7L diesel engines make sure to replace the tappets. Using old tappets on a new camshaft could cause uneven wear on the camshaft itself.
The OEM Cummins replacement tappets are designed for use in the following Cummins Diesel Engines:
- 1989 to 1998 Cummins 12 Valve Turbo Diesel
- 1998.5 to 2002 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins
- 2003 to 2007 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins
- 2007.5 to 2016 Dodge Ram 6.7L Cummins
Important notes about lifters or tappets when installing a new camshaft in your Cummins diesel engine.
We at KLM Performance always use new lifters, tappets on a new flat tappet camshaft. If you plan on using your current used tappets, you must follow this advice. When removing your used flat tappets again on the same engine, you must keep the tappets organized. The engines tappets must be kept in order so that they are reinstalled with the same lobe of the cam they were installed with previously. The tappet requires a breaks-in to the particular camshaft lobe it is mated with. This order cannot be changed. If the used tappets, lifters get mixed up, you should discard them and install a new set of tappets and break the camshaft in again as you would in a new cam and lifters. You should always install new tappets on a new camshaft. We recommend that you never try to use used lifters on a new camshaft.
