The fuel sump was originally designed to improve diesel fuel delivery rates in trucks with high power engines. But it has since evolved into high horsepower drag racing applications also. Since the fuel sump is located on the bottom of the fuel tank, it is designed to work with gravity and not against it. Allowing your fuel pump to supply fuel with gravity and not against gravity. Working with gravity dramatically reduces the strain on your pump and increases its efficiency.
