When the spring in the original radiator coolant recovery cap gets worn out the engine cooling system is not functioning at its full potential. A failed Degas Bottle Cap has to lead many Dodge and Jeep owners to believe their head gaskets have failed. A malfunctioning coolant cap / degas bottle cap will allow your coolant to boil before the engagement of the cooling fan. If the degas bottle is leaking, you will see a white residue below the cap as it dries. This white residue is from the evaporated coolant.

The new Ford 9C3Z8101B Degas Bottle Cap Stops Leaks in the Degas bottle itself from a weak cap or imperfections with sealing that present a white residue on the exterior of the degas bottle. A cheap and easy solution is to replace the Degas Bottle Cap with the new Ford Updated Degas Bottle Cap and see if this solves this issue. The Ford Degas Bottle Cap - Replacement Coolant Cap is an OEM Ford Part.

NOTE: After replacing the OEM Mopar 68442532AA Engine Coolant Reservoir Cap, Degas Bottle Cap, Radiator Cap you should only fill to the MIN - minimum line on the coolant bottle when cold.

  • FAQ: Why do I have Coolant leaking From the Degas Bottle Cap on my Powerstroke engine?  The Chrysler engines may exhibit coolant loss, low coolant, or coolant blowing out of the degas bottle as a direct result of excess coolant levels. Check that the coolant level is not too high and the expulsion is not due to normal expansion. The coolant level in the bottle at normal operating temperature should be at the Minimum level mark on the coolant reservoir bottle.  Your coolant degas bottle cap should be checked to see if it is capable of holding 21PSI for the proper seal on the coolant bottle. Pressure test the cooling system to verify there are no leaks.
