Fleetguard® Cummins Filtration DEF Filter, Diesel Exhaust Fluid Filter, or UREA Replacement Filters
Fleetguard Cummins Filtration offers a range of DEF filters for Cummins and non-Cummins engine applications. These replacement DEF Filters are Diesel-powered medium and heavy duty truck applications.
The Cummins Filtration Fleetguard Urea Filters are a vital part of your emission control system installed on your diesel engine. All medium and heavy duty trucks manufactured on January 1, 2010, are required to meet the stricter EPA Emission Standards through the use of Diesel Exhaust Fluid as part of the engine's exhaust after-treatment system. All trucks have Diesel Exhaust Fluid tanks that are designed with a filter to keep the system clear of debris. Diesel Exhaust Fluid is an important component in keeping heavy-duty trucks and machinery operating with a mandated selective catalytic reduction in diesel engine emission guidelines.
What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid or DEF?
DEF or Diesel Exhaust Fluid is an ammonia-based liquid that is injected into the exhaust systems particulate filter as a catalyst to create a chemical reaction that breaks down the Nitrogen Oxide or NOx into nitrogen, water, and small amounts of CO2. DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) is a non-toxic solution of 67.5% water and 32.5% automotive grade urea and is one of the key elements of the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) after-treatment system intended to reduce NOx from the exhaust.
Why is a Diesel Exhaust Fluid Filter or Urea Filter so important?
The DEF fluid is stored in the plastic storage tank. The DEF fluid’s level is monitored by the level sensor. The level sensor consists of four electrodes that measure the fluid level through conductivity. The level sensor only has the capability of reading 0%, 33%, 66%, and 100%. The DEF Fluid’s temperature is monitored by the NTC temperature sensor Below -34°C (-30°F), the DEF system activation is disabled by the ECM. that may be introduced into the system, which can cause the equipment to perform negatively. Cummins Filtration offers a range of DEF filters for Cummins and non-Cummins engine applications for medium and heavy duty truck applications. The DEF system is installed with a Urea Filter as a means to keep your emissions system running and avoid complications. Proper maintenance is a critical part of this system.
The benefit of using DEF Filters:
If your DEF or Diesel Exhaust Fluid is not properly filtered, urea crystals and other contaminants gained during transport and storage can cause the SCR system to malfunction or not work properly. The replacement of the DEF filter is a straightforward means of keeping your truck running and avoiding costly repairs or downtime!
