What is the CCV Filter Change Interval for Ram 6.7 Cummins?

The Chrysler factory suggested a change interval for the 2007.5 to 2018 Cummins 6.7L Crankcase Vent Filter is 67,500 miles or when the message appears.

The change interval has now been extended for the Owners of 2019 to the Current model Cummins 6.7L suggested a change interval for the Cummins 6.7L Crankcase Vent Filter is 75,000 miles or when the message appears.

Changing the Cummins Crankcase Vent Filter CV52001 at a shorter service interval, is money well spent.

KLM Performance recommends you purchase the 6.7L Cummins 3999820 Crankcase Breather Gasket when you order this crankcase ventilation filter for your 6.7L Cummins diesel.

This Fleetguard CV52001 - CUMMINS: OCV / Crankcase Ventilation Kit /  Breather Assembly is the one used on the Cummins ISB Engines. We recommend shorter change intervals because the Cummins 6.7L Crankcase Vent Filter breather tube is located next to the turbo inlet. A quicker FLEETGUARD Crankcase Vent Filter CV52001 change interval will help minimize oil vapor coating the turbo compressor wheel, air inlet passageways, and intercooler.

The Crankcase Ventilation Filter should be a part of your regular maintenance schedule, as it needs to be replaced at the suggested interval to ensure proper engine operation. This Crankcase Ventilation Filter filter costs $98.30, but this is economical compared to the price of a new turbocharger. The failure to replace this filter can lead to far more expensive and time-consuming repairs to your engine. Completing preventative maintenance is how to keep your truck running instead of reactive repairs when the problem surfaces.  These 6.7L ISB crankcase breather filters are in stock and ready for immediate shipment. The installation of a new Fleetguard CV52001 Crankcase Ventilation Filter allows everything on your engine to breathe. So ensure your crankcase ventilation filter is clean and doing its job.

Chrysler recommends the Dodge Ram trucks with the 6.7L Cummins Crankcase Ventilation Filter replacement interval when a message is displayed on your overhead console alerting you that the Crankcase Vent Filter is now clogged.

In the 2007.5 model, Cummins 6.7L diesel contains a new emissions system that no longer vents crankcase gasses into the atmosphere. With the new 6.7L Cummins emissions systems, they've switched to a CCV or Closed Crankcase Ventilation system. This new CCV system contains a Fleetguard 6.7L Cummins Crank Case Vent Filter CV52001. The Cummins 6.7L diesel employs a Closed Crankcase Ventilation system. This Closed Crankcase Ventilation system collects these crankcase gasses. These oily gasses from the crankcase then enter into your turbocharger inlet air stream post air filter. This Closed Crankcase Ventilation system will allow a greasy build-up on the turbo compressor wheel if the filter is not serviced. If the FLEETGUARD 6.7L Cummins Crankcase Breather Filter CV52001 breather filter becomes clogged, crankcase blow-by is higher than average; these gasses can now coat the inside of the intercooler, which lowers its efficiency. Changing the Cummins 6.7L Turbo Diesel Crank Case Vent Filter at regular preventive maintenance intervals will save time, money, and a lot of aggravation. Crankcase Ventilation Filter CV52001 / Cummins 4936636 High-efficiency crankcase aerosol filtration reduces oil consumption and environmental waste on Dodge Ram trucks and other vehicles using Cummins 6.7L diesel engines.

When the Perform Service message is illuminated on the overhead display, you must replace the Cummins Filtration 6.7L crankcase ventilation filter immediately. A delay in replacing this vital filter will cause the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes / DCT codes to appear.

  • P1507 crankcase filter restriction.
  • P1508 crankcase filter restriction means the restriction has triggered a second warning to replace this engine filter.

How to change the FLEETGUARD 6.7L Cummins Crankcase Vent Filter CV52001 1. Pop the hood and remove the four cap screws holding the front dress cover in place. Then, remove the oil dipstick. Be careful not to brush it against anything, and remove the front cover. Replace the dipstick. 2. Now remove the eight 8MM cap screws holding the FLEETGUARD CV52001 6.7L Cummins Crankcase Vent Filter cover in place. (Remember that the back one on the left has a cable attached to it. Just pull up on the tie to get that out of your way. 3. Once the eight cap screws are removed, clean around the oil filler cap, remove it, lift the cover-up, and move it to the left.
